Buffalo, NY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District has scheduled the lower west operating gate at the Black Rock Lock, Buffalo, NY for repairs from 1 May through 13 May.

The work will strengthen the connection between the hydraulic ram and the operating gate, and will require an outage during the repairs.

“This is an emergency repair that's critically important to ensure the 102-year-old lock continues operation and provides safe transit of the boating public.” said Adam Hamm, USACE Buffalo District Chief NY-PA Operations & Maintenance.  “After working with the contractor on the timeframe and feedback from the public these dates allow us to get the much needed work done. The repair will require an outage and we will do everything in our power to minimize impact to the boating public and lock users during the upcoming navigation season.”

Specific outage dates have been published via a notice to navigation interests, and posted to our web page, www.lrb.usace.army.mil.
