BUFFALO, NY -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District will host a web meeting on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. EDT to discuss a recently completed study by engineering consulting firms Ecology and Environment and LimnoTech on the placement of Toledo Harbor dredged sediment in the Western Lake Erie Basin and its influence on Harmful Algal Blooms.
The purpose of the study was to answer the question: “What is the potential for placement of Toledo Harbor dredged material in the Western Lake Erie Basin to influence Harmful Algal Blooms?” The study was conducted over a period of approximately 18 months and involved a comprehensive literature review, field sampling, laboratory analysis, and state-of-the-science water quality modeling.
