    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is looking at ways to stop grass carp from spawning in the Sandusky River near Fremont, Ohio, and nearly 3,700 miles of rivers and tributaries connected to Lake Erie where they damage habitats, increase erosion, and threaten the economy.
  • USACE Buffalo District Announces 2023 Operations Schedule for Black Rock Lock

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District is announcing the Black Rock Lock operations schedule for the 2023 navigation season. The Black Rock Lock is one of three lock systems operated and maintained by USACE on the U.S. side of the Great Lakes and saw more than 2,600 vessels and 60,000 metric tons of commerce pass through its walls in fiscal year 2021.
  • NOTICE TO BOATERS: Sandusky Harbor Dredging Sediment Pipeline Location Change

    Michigan-based Luedtke Engineering began dredging Sandusky Harbor on September 18. Due to shallow water levels, they have had to extend the sediment pump-out pipeline. Boaters should go out to the navigation channel before heading out into the lake to avoid dredge operations. Please see attached map of new area.
