  • USACE, Buffalo District Hosted Public Information Session about the Proposed Plan to Clean up Contaminated Sediment in the Lower Maumee River

    More than 20 people attended the Lower Maumee River Great Lakes Legacy Act public information session on the proposed sediment clean-up plan. The information session allowed for dialog to learn more about contaminated sediments located in the Lower Maumee River of the Maumee Area of Concern (AOC). Attendees asked questions and provided feedback about the project before a remedial design phase begins. The proposed feasibility study is posted online at: https://www.epa.gov/great-lakes-aocs/information-session-proposed-contaminated-sediment-clean-lower-maumee-river.     The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District awarded a $4,565,000 contract to Michigan-based Ryba Marine Construction Company on May 17 to conduct dredging of the federal navigation channel in Toledo Harbor and the Maumee River. Dredging of harbors like Toledo’s and rivers like the Maumee ensures accessible depths for large vessels, the continued flow of commodities across the Great Lakes, and the economic viability of United States waterways.
  • Corps of Engineers awards contracts for Maumee Bay and Maumee River dredging

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District has awarded a $2.122 million contract to conduct dredging of the federal navigation channel in Maumee Bay, and a $787,000 contract for the Maumee River dredging to occur during 2019, located along Lake Erie in Toledo Harbor, in the City of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.
