    "Wear your lifejacket!" That was the message U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District team members were promoting at the Lake Erie Waterfest event, Miller Road Park, Avon Lake, OH. Seamoor was out on the “prowl” to look for people to share water safety information with and of course, to squirt them with water! The children immediately flocked to the “purple dragon-looking thing driving a jet ski”. Even the adults had fun when they got sprayed by Seamoor.

  • Ground was broken on the Canadaway Creek Sewer Line Protection Project, Dunkirk, NY, August 12, 2014. The revetment is constructed by first digging a ditch along the creek, filling it with a combination of steel mesh and rip rap, and then back filling and covering the ditch. As the shore erodes with time, the rip rap with fall into place and create a natural protected creek bank.

  • Congratulation to the first place winners from Buffalo Public School 195, City Honors, in the "March Movie Madness Competition" sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District. The students were invited to the District to have pizza with the District Commander LTC Owen Beaudoin and talk about their movie, what they have learned and to receive recognition for their outstanding video, March 27, 2013.

    Mission not impossible: responding to disaster

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District is part of a broad Planning and Response Team, a special team of individuals who respond to disasters like flooding and hurricanes within days of the end of a disaster.
