Material Shipped from Linde FUSRAP Site

TONAWANDA - Approximately 700 tons of low-level radioactively contaminated material left the Linde Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program Site on September 11, 1998. The material is going to be disposed of in Utah.

The structural demolition of Building 30 began with the take down of the building’s North Bay on September 5. Demolition of the remainder of the building is scheduled to be completed by September 21.

The Corps of Engineers is enforcing strict safety standards in accordance with a site safety and health plan. The safety and health plan includes air monitoring, dust control, and controlled access during the demolition operations.

Previous FUSRAP remediation activities at the site include the decontamination of Building 31 and Building 14, demolition of Building 38, and removal of approximately 3,000 cubic yards of low-level radioactively contaminated soil.
