Approximately 300 cubic yards of impacted material will be removed from an area adjacent to the southern end of the dam.

Pursuant to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Corps prepared the Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis (EE/CA) below which identifies and evaluates alternatives to address the arsenic contamination. The EE/CA summarizes the field investigations, which identified soil impacted by the burning as non-hazardous waste, and presents five alternatives for a Non-Time Critical Removal Action. The recommended alternative is the excavation and disposal of the contaminated soil in a municipal landfill. This removal action meets all the criteria in CERCLA including overall protection of human health and the environment.

The public review and comment period will last for 30 days, beginning on June 11th, 2009 and ending on July 10th, 2009. Comments must be postmarked by July 10th, 2009 and sent to:
