Maj. Jared E. Runge

Maj. Jared E. Runge received his commission as an Engineer Officer upon graduation from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geography. He is also a graduate of the Command and General Staff College; Engineer Officer Basic Course; Infantry Captain’s Career Course; and the Joint Engineer Operations Course. In addition, Runge holds a Master of Science in Construction Management from Florida International University, and is a Certified Project Management Professional.

Maj. Runge has spent much of his career in Airborne assignments, beginning with platoon leader in the 30th Engineer Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, from November 2000 to December 2001. From January 2002 to January 2003, he served as executive officer of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 20th Engineer Brigade, and subsequently as the S3 Air for the 30th Engineer Battalion.

Following completion of the Infantry Captains Career Course, Maj.  Runge returned to Fort Bragg in March 2005, where he served first as the S4 of the 37th Engineer Battalion until May 2006.  He then commanded the Headquarters and Headquarters Company from May 2006 to December 2007.  Following Command, he was assigned as the assistant Brigade S3 until August 2008, when he returned to school to earn his Master’s Degree.

Upon graduation, Maj. Runge was assigned to the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Savannah District where he commanded the 542nd Forward Engineer Support Team from January 2010 to January 2012, then attended the Command and General Staff College. 

In July 2013, Maj. Runge served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy, as a Brigade Engineer and Battalion Executive Officer. 

In August 2015, Maj. Runge began his current assignment as the Deputy District Commander of the USACE Buffalo District.

Maj. Runge’s awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star; the Meritorious Service Medal (Three Oak Leaf Clusters); the Army Commendation Medal (One Oak Leaf Cluster); the Army Achievement Medal; and, the Master Parachutist Badge. He has been deployed to Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq. 

Maj. Runge is married and has three beautiful daughters.
