Assumption of Command
Lt. Col. Karl D. Jansen assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District, effective June 5, 2014 succeeding Lt. Col. Owen J. Beaudoin who took command on June 21, 2012. The formal assumption of command ceremony took place at the Buffalo District Office, 1776 Niagara Street, Buffalo, New York, on June 5 at 10:30 a.m. It is a time-honored Army tradition dating back before the Civil War which emphasizes the continuity of command and unit identity, despite changes in individual authority from one officer to another. The heart of the ceremony is the passing of the command flag - the symbol of the unit's identity. The ceremony was followed by a meet-and-greet with members of Team Bufflo.
