Proposed Plan Available Occidental Chemical Corporation Property Former Lake Ontario Ordnance Works Formerly Used Defense Site ***Public Meeting January 11, 2017, 6:30 p.m.

Buffalo, NY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District is pleased to announce the availability of the Proposed Plan for the Occidental Chemical Corporation Property at the Former Lake Ontario Ordnance Works Site, Niagara County, New York, and a fact sheet summarizing the document at http://www.lrb.usace.army.mil/Missions/HTRW/DERPFUDS/LakeOntarioOrdnanceWorks.aspx on the Buffalo District website. A public meeting presenting the proposed plan and preferred alternative will be conducted on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Town of Lewiston Senior Center, 4361 Lower River Road, Youngstown, New York 14171.

Corps of Engineers Awards Contract to Dredge Cleveland Harbor in 2016

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District has moved quickly following the Stipulation and Order entered by the Court last week, and has awarded a $3,725,000 contract to dredge the Cleveland Harbor federal navigation channel in 2016 to Ryba Marine Construction of Cheboygan, Michigan.

Corps of Engineers Proposes to Dredge Cleveland Harbor

After repeated efforts by the Corps to obtain a voluntary agreement among the parties, the Corps has told the court that the Corps is willing to voluntarily agree to award the contract to dredge the disputed Upper Reach of Cleveland Harbor and will advance the funds needed to dispose of the sediment in a confined disposal facility, provided that there is adequate assurance that the Corps will be reimbursed if it is ultimately successful on the merits of this case.

USACE Buffalo District Project Delivery Team named best in the Corps of Engineers
