Barrier beach construction underway at Braddock Bay
As part of the $7.994 million contract awarded on October 6, 2015 to Wesson Group LLC, Johnstown, NY, construction has begun of the barrier beach at the Braddock Bay Ecosystem Restoration project in Greece, NY.

Contract awarded to repair Port Clinton Harbor East Jetty
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District has awarded a $375,243 contract to GeoGradel of Toledo, OH to repair a sections of the Port Clinton Harbor East Jetty that was damaged during Superstorm Sand.

BG Kaiser’s remarks regarding Cleveland dredging and Lake Erie funding
Recent news reports have alleged that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers threatened to cut Lake Erie projects that fight harmful algae blooms and Asian carp in the event the federal government must pay for a more costly alternative than open-lake placement of sediment dredged from the upper Cuyahoga River federal navigation channel in Cleveland, Ohio.

USACE Buffalo District receives $37.518 million in FY17 President’s Budget
The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2017 (FY17) includes more than $4.620 billion in discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, USACE, (see release at: Corps of Engineers, Headquarters Website – www.usace.army.mil) with more than $37 million for Buffalo District projects.
