    Williams County Receives Section 594 Assistance from USACE for the Alvordton Sanitary Sewer Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers , Buffalo District, has entered into an agreement with Williams County, Ohio, to provide almost $1 million toward the total costs of sanitary sewer upgrades. The Section 594 reimbursements to Williams County will be supplemented by other sources of financing as necessary to cover the entire cost of the project.

    USACE Buffalo District to host ribbon cutting for Athol Springs’ revetment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District will host a ceremonial ribbon cutting event and media site tour, 1:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 at the Athol Springs project site, adjacent the Hoak’s Restaurant located at 4100 Lake Shore Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075.    The ceremony celebrates completion of the $8.2 million, 1,325-foot armor stone revetment of the Lake Erie seawall that will protect Route 5 from Lake Erie wave action and spray.

    USACE, Buffalo District to host ribbon cutting ceremony for Unity Island Wetland restoration completion

    The Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District will host a ceremonial ribbon cutting event, and media site tour at 1 pm, Monday, October 26, 2020 at the north end of Unity Island Park in Buffalo, NY, in front of the park’s largest pond. The ceremony celebrates the completion The Unity Island Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Project that restored 10 acres of coastal wetland habitat.

    PROPOSED PLAN AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC COMMENT FOR THE BALANCE OF PLANT AND GROUNDWATER OPERABLE UNITS OF THE NIAGARA FALLS STORAGE SITE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District is pleased to announce the availability of the Proposed Plan, Balance of Plant and Groundwater Operable Units, Niagara Falls Storage Site (NFSS). The proposed plan and a fact sheet are available on the web at: https://www.lrb.usace.army.mil/Missions/HTRW/FUSRAP/Niagara-Falls-Storage-Site/ in their respective sections.

    USACE Buffalo District awards contract for Great Sodus Bay seawall repair

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District awarded a $3.86 million contract to Michigan-based Great Lakes Dock & Materials, L.L.C, on August 21 for repairs to the east breakwater in the Great Sodus Harbor, located in Sodus Bay, Village of Sodus Point, Wayne County, NY.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District began operations and maintenance (O&M) dredging of the Buffalo Harbor, a commercial deep draft harbor, September 8.

    BUFFALO DISTRICT COMPLETES REMEDIAL ACTION AT FORMERLY UTILIZED SITES REMEDIAL ACTION PROGRAM VICINITY PROPERTY

    On July 7, 2020, members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District team performed radon flux sampling at the Tonawanda Landfill Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Vicinity Property to verify that the record of decision cleanup goals were met. Validated data gathered from the 108 radon flux canisters that were placed over the excavation areas of the vicinity property indicate that the cleanup goals were indeed met.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District began construction to repair a damaged portion of the Cleveland Harbor West Breakwater in Cleveland, Ohio.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District completed the Buffalo South breakwater construction on August 12, 2020 to repair 625 feet out of the 1,000 foot degraded section.

    CONTRACT AWARDED FOR PRODUCTION BUILDING REMOVAL AT THE LUCKEY FUSRAP SITE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District awarded a cost reimbursable contract to North Wind Site Services, LLC, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, for the removal of the former Production Building, the largest building on the Luckey Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Site.
