  • RECORD OF DECISION HAS BEEN SIGNED FOR THE INTERIM WASTE CONTAINMENT STRUCTURE OPERABLE UNIT OF THE NIAGARA FALLS STORAGE SITE

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District is pleased to announce the record of decision for the Interim Waste Containment Structure Operable Unit of the Niagara Falls Storage Site, located in Lewiston, New York, has been signed by Mr. Rickey “R.D.” James, Assistant Secretary for the Army for Civil Works. The selected remedy is Alternative 4 from the proposed plan: excavation, partial treatment, and off-site disposal of the entire contents of the Interim Waste Containment Structure.
  • Federal Interest Determination to protect Old Fort Niagara approved

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District has determined that there is a federal interest in pursuing a project to mitigate erosion that is threatening the seawall and historic structures at Old Fort Niagara Park, Youngstown, NY under Section 14 of the 1946 Flood Control Act.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District teams have completed an initial damage assessment of the Fair Haven pier, which protects Little Sodus Bay Harbor, to better understand the extent of the damages sustained.

    The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2020 released Tuesday includes more than $4.827 billion in discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, with $22.023 million set aside for Buffalo District projects.

  • Erie Township Sanitary Sewer Project, Phase I completed

    The Ottawa County Sanitary Engineering Department completed Phase I of the Erie Township Sanitary Sewer Project with partial funding through the Water Resources Development Act of 1999 (Public Law 106-53), Section 594 program administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District has received $41.859 million in the Fiscal Year 2019 Work Plan, to complete projects across the District’s area of responsibility. This is in addition to the $54.956 million the District has already received in the Fiscal Year 2019 President’s Budget.
