Buffalo, NY – Due to technical problems with the webinar held on October 27, 2014, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District will host a second web meeting on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. EST to discuss a recently completed study by engineering consulting firms Ecology and Environment and LimnoTech on the placement of Toledo Harbor dredged sediment in the Western Lake Erie Basin and its influence on Harmful Algal Blooms.
The purpose of the study was to answer the question: "What is the potential for placement of Toledo Harbor dredged material in the Western Lake Erie Basin to influence Harmful Algal Blooms?" The study was conducted over a period of approximately 18 months and involved a comprehensive literature review, field sampling, laboratory analysis, and state-of-the-science water quality modeling.
Participation can be by phone only by following the Audio Conference Information or, a combination of phone and computer by following the Audio and Web Conference Instructions. A copy of the presentation will also be available on the morning of the web meeting on the Buffalo District homepage (http://www.lrb.usace.army.mil/Home.aspx) under the heading: "Featured Pages."
