Corps of Engineers to host media session regarding the Blanchard River Watershed Study Draft Detailed Project Report and Environmental Impact Statement

BUFFALO, NY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District will host a media session Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Findlay High School located at 1200 Broad Avenue, Findlay, OH 45840 starting at 4:00pm.  Following the media session, the public will be welcomed to a poster session from 5:00-6:00pm, presentation from 6:00-6:30pm, followed by a question and answer session.

The USACE study team will be discussing and taking comments on the Blanchard River Watershed Study Draft Detailed Project Report and Environmental Impact Statement.  The purpose of the report is to analyze flood risk management in the Blanchard River Watershed and recommend improvements.

The agency will also host Availability Sessions, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Hancock County Engineers Office located at 1900 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45839 from 9:00am-12:00pm and 2:00-5:00pm.  Project team members will be on site to meet with citizens and other interested persons to answer questions about the study. 

Comments will be accepted beginning April 10, 2015.  The comment period will close 45 days later on May 25, 2015.  Comments may be submitted electronically at or mailed to Blanchard River Watershed Study, Draft Report Comments, Toledo Project Office, 3906 North Summit Street, Toledo, OH 43611-5003.

USACE will review and consider public input before finalizing the Detailed Project Report and Environmental Impact Statement.

USACE, Buffalo District is authorized and fully funded to complete the flood risk management study.  Future project implementation requires authorization of a construction project in federal statute. In addition, Congress must then appropriate funding for future detailed design and construction of the project.
