  • Local Corps of Engineers staff deployed to help in hurricane response

    BUFFALO, New York—Four members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District have been deployed to assist in the hurricane response effort following Hurricane Harvey and in anticipation of Hurricane Irma’s aftermath.
  • USACE awards contract to dredge Cleveland Harbor in 2017

    Buffalo, NY—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Buffalo District has awarded a contract to Ryba Marine Construction to dredge sediment from Cleveland Harbor’s upper federal navigation channel during the Fall of 2017 with an option to dredge in the Spring of 2018. All dredged materials will be placed in a confined disposal facility.
  • Unity Island project team to host event to highlight multiple projects

    Buffalo, New York—The Unity Island project team will host both a ribbon cutting and a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) signing ceremony on Unity Island, Buffalo, NY (see map below) on Thursday, August 31 at 11am. The ribbon cutting will commemorate the completion of the ecosystem restoration work performed at the Island's North Pond. The PPA signing celebrates the onset of a second project to place dredged sediment into the pond for additional ecosystem enhancements.

    Buffalo, New York--The Springville Dam Ecosystem Restoration project team will host a media event and site walk to highlight the signing of the Project Partnership Agreement Monday, August 14 at 1pm, at the Springville Dam located at 11024 Scoby Rd, Springville, NY 14141.
  • Times Beach project team to host project ceremony and butterfly release

    Buffalo, New York--The Times Beach Aquatic Invasive Plant Control Project team will host a media event to highlight the team’s acceptance of an Engineering Excellence Award, followed by a Monarch butterfly and caterpillar release, Monday, August 7 at 2pm, at Times Beach located at 2 Fuhrmann Blvd, Buffalo, NY 14203.

    Buffalo, NY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Buffalo District’s Regulatory section is working diligently to finalize the permit decision for the Owasco Flats Wetland Restoration Initiative, with an anticipated completion date the week of August 7.
  • Corps of Engineers to host Black Rock Lock commemorative open house event

    Buffalo, NY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District will host an open house at the Black Rock Lock on August 5, 2017 from noon to 3:00 p.m. to commemorate 200 years since groundbreaking for the Erie Canal on July 4, 1817.
