What’s in the kit of an Estonian winter soldier? (international version)
--SYNOPSIS-- Skis, snowshoes and a shovel – these are just some of the items that soldiers in Estonia carry in their winter kit. In this feature, Sgt Remys-Bert Ville provides a comprehensive list of equipment required for Estonian soldiers to operate during winter months, where temperatures can sink as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius. Footage includes shots of Sgt Ville presenting each item to camera and Estonian infantry soldiers walking through the snow near a forest. All NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup Estonia training is conducted in line with Estonian national COVID policy. The Battlegroup is currently operating as a ‘bubble’ in order to achieve maximum output from this training, whilst protecting personnel. --TRANSCRIPT-- SOUNDBITE- (ENGLISH) Sgt Remys-Bert Ville, Estonian Defence Forces ‘My name is Sgt Remys-Bert Ville and this is what Estonian infantry soldiers carry with them in the winter. Point Blank 21-02 Flight Ops
Aircraft from the 492nd and 493rd fighter squadrons get prepped, takeoff and perform close flybys and touch & go's as a part of Point Blank 21-02. The 48th Fighter Wing regularly takes part in this multilateral exercise as a way to strengthen interoperability with allied nations and development skills critical to gaining and maintaining air superiority when needed.

Fort McCoy Garrison Commander Col. Michael Poss provides remarks during a ground-breaking ceremony April 15, 2021, for the second transient training barracks project at Fort McCoy, Wis. The second barracks $18.8 million barracks project was awarded to L.C. Black Constructors, which is the contractor building the first barracks building, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Resident Office at Fort McCoy. The new contract was awarded Sept. 29, 2020, and the notice to proceed was issued Oct. 28, 2020. The contract duration is scheduled for completion in 780 calendar days. Currently contract completion is scheduled for December 2022. The barracks is different than the traditional barracks located throughout the installation. This new building will be four stories and able to house 400 people in approximately 60,000 square feet. The building will be built with the latest in construction materials and include state-of-the-art physical security and energy-saving measures. The project also is part of the Fort McCoy master plan that looks at continuously upgrading the installation’s infrastructure to be prepared for the future. Janssen Vaccine Update
Col. Scott Mower, Force Health Protection Officer for Regional Health Command Europe, spoke to AFN Europe's AFN Joint Force radio show about Military Treatment Facilities in Europe pausing use of the Johnson and Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine due to a few reports of “rare and severe” blood clots. Out of an abundance of caution, the Defense Health Agency and the Military Health System immediately implemented their guidance following recommendations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.

Mercy is underway off the coast of Southern California completing Dynamic Interface Testing, where the ship’s aviation facilities will be evaluated for compatibility with the V-22 Osprey and MH-60 Seahawk, and establish launch and recovery windows in adverse weather conditions. Mercy recently returned to its homeport in San Diego from a regular overhaul in Portland, Ore., where improvements were made to its flight deck to support multiple aircraft platforms.
