Lake Level Information

Lake Erie and Ontario Water Levels:

 

  • Weekly Lake Erie and Lake Ontario Level and Flow Statements – These statements are also available by calling toll free at 1-800-833-6390. This service is provided in support of the International Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Board by the Buffalo District Corps of Engineers. The statements are updated each week.

Weekly Lake Erie Update

As of November 14, 2018 the mean water level on Lake Erie was 572.76 feet (174.58 m). The long term average for the month of November is 570.86 feet (174.00 m).

The water level relative to chart datum for the following locations was: 

Toledo 3.6 feet (1.10 m)
Cleveland 3.5 feet (1.07 m)
Erie 3.6 feet (1.09 m)
Buffalo 3.5 feet (1.08 m)

The Lake Erie mean outflow was 254,600 ft3/s (7210 m3/s).

The Lake Erie levels and outflows may be obtained by calling the Buffalo District Public Affairs Office at (716) 879-4349.

Weekly Lake Ontario Update

As of November 14, 2018 the mean water level on Lake Ontario was 244.81 feet (74.62 m). The long term average for the month of November is 244.81 feet (74.62 m).

The water level relative to chart datum for the following locations was: 

 

Ogdensburg 1.0 feet (0.29 m)
Cornwall 1.6 feet (0.49 m)
Summerstown 1.3 feet (0.41 m)
Pointe Claire 3.9 feet (1.20 m)
Port of Montreal 3.9 feet (1.20 m)

The Lake Ontario mean outflow was 279,000 ft3/s (7900 m3/s).
